A first league win of the season is openly welcomed be everyone, especially Stephen Robinson who was coming under increased pressure from the media who had completely overlooked the quality of performance against Motherwell and circumstances at Pittodrie.
The winner is scored by Richard Tait after he sent in a sensational 20 yard shot high into the net.
Ethan Erhahon continues to excel in midfield and after looking surplus to requirements only a few months earlier, was now one of the most important players in the squad.
Robinson sticks with his 3-5-2 system and although Saints are defeated, the performance is excellent and only an astonishing performance by Motherwell keeper Liam Kelly denies Saints multiple goals.
Curtis Main returns from injury and comes off the bench for the last half hour but is also denied by Kelly who claws his header miraculously around the post. Trevor Carson also returns to the starting XI following his injury scare earlier in the month.
The match is decided by a controversial penalty after John Beaton decides Scott Tanser handled a cross. The recent change in the handball law would prove to be a highly debatable subject for months to come.
Stephen Robinson reverts back to the 3-5-2 system which had allowed a strong finish to the previous season and is finally rewarded with a much-improved performance and comfortable, albeit pointless, win against League One FC Edinburgh.
Keanu Baccus makes a very impressive debut after his work permit is finally granted, with young Fraser Taylor also given his first taste of first team football from the bench.
Jonah Ayunga bags another two goals taking his tally to the season to four. Mark O’Hara scores his first goal for the club after converting an early penalty.

Another poor performance from Saints sees the side eliminated from what should have been a straightforward League Cup section with a game still to play.
Greg Kiltie is red carded in the first half following a reckless high challenge
The fans unhappiness with the performances reaches a crescendo as the team and manager are unceremoniously criticised and booed at the end of the match
The manager persists with a 4-3-3 formation, and although Saints win comfortably against the non-league side, the performance is again far from convincing.
Jonah Ayunga scores his first goals for the club in only his second match; however, it is Ethan Erhahon who stands out for the second game in a row with an outstanding performance in the centre of the park, continuing the return to somewhere near his best under Robinson.
Ryan Strain makes his first appearance in a Saints shirt, the maiden outing for the spectacular all black Paisley Pattern laden Joma extravaganza, but the Australian looks very short of match practice. Peter Urminksy starts his first match for the club also after several years on the bench following an injury to Trevor Carson.
