- Following this hard earned point, Saints stretch their unbeaten start to the season in the league to 7 matches, the first time since 1968 they have achieved this in the top flight. The 15 points accumulated at this point in the season is the best since 1953/54.
- Stephen Robinson makes 3 changes from the midweek defeat at Easter Road, with Dunne, Baccus and McMenamin replacing Taylor, Boyd-Munce and Olusanya.
- Despite being the better side in the opening period of the match, Saints are severely punished for some poor defending when former Buddie Brad Lyons somehow manages to outjump Hemming and knock his own block, which had spun high in the air, into the net. Replays after the match confirm VAR missed Lyons knocking the ball away from Hemming with his arm.
- Another former Saint however levels matters, when Kyle Magennis slides a Scott Tanser cross into his own net. The former Saints captain follows in Joe Shaughnessy’s footsteps who had scored the previous month at Paisley.
- The second half is a drab affair, with the poor weather, pitch and petty refereeing performance more memorable than any play. This is the tenth time Saints have played on the Kilmarnock plastic pitch and are yet to win.
- The point extends Saints lead over 3rd placed Rangers to 3 points, however Celtic winning at Fir Park means the Paisley club now trail the leaders by 4 points.
