  • A controversial penalty deep into added on time prevents Saints winning 7 matches in a row as a top flight club for the first time since 1925.
  • After VAR intervention, Alex Gogic is penalised for handball in the 55th minute of the second half, however the actual striking of the penalty is under scrutiny as Bojan Mioviski appears to slip and knock the ball from his left foot onto his right, before it spins away from Hemming and into the net which should have resulted in the goal being disallowed and indirect free-kick being awarded. Despite having VAR to consult, the officials decide to award the goal.
  • The decision overshadows an outstanding St Mirren performance, where last seasons third placed side are dominated from start to finish, however the luck was on the Dons side as they scored from a cross that sneaked in at the back post as well as this contentious penalty. Saints would also have 2 goals disallowed and miss multiple opportunities to win by a very comfortable margin.
  • Greg Kiltie scored his first of the season to level the scores from the penalty spot before Alex Greive looked to have won the match for Saints with a fine finish after 76 minutes.
  • Saints are also denied the opportunity to go 2 points clear at the top of the table and have to settle for joint top with Celtic and Motherwell.

  • Saints go top of the early league table with a much more comfortable win that the scoreline suggests.
  • Captain Mark O’Hara misses the match after being injured in training the previous day and is replaced with Caolan Boyd-Munce
  • Stephen Robinson decides to start with Mikael Mandron leaving Toyosi Olusnaya on the bench despite his heroics last week at Easter Road.
  • Former Saints captain Joe Shaugnessy spectacularly heads into his own het following a teasing cross from the impressive Conor McMenamin to give Saints the lead. Mikael Mandron grabs his 4th of the season in first half injury time with a deft flick from Boyd-Munce’s corner.
  • ‘Keeper Zach Hemming saves a first half penalty after VAR had ruled Mandron fouled Ashcroft at a corner kick. An Alex Greive shot which appeared to go clearly over the line was not awarded as a goal later in the match despite VAR intervention.
  • Ex-Saints keeper Trevor Carson made his Dundee debut following his controversial move to Dens Park a few weeks beforehand and is the target of sustained booing throughout the match from the home support.
