French born Cameroonian national Stephane Bahoken joined Saints on loan at the end of the 2013 summer transfer window from one of the best teams in France, topflight outfit Nice, to bolster an attack consisting of now veteran striker Steven Thompson and pretty much nobody else.
Saints had been recommended to Bahoken by Esmael Goncalves who had left the club a few months earlier and the 2013 League Cup winning hero predicted big things for his friend in Paisley, however it just didn’t work out for the young forward in Scotland.
Bahoken struggled to adapt to the Scottish game and having come from the French Riviera to the west of Scotland, perhaps he didn’t settle at in this country, however in total the forward played under 200 minutes for the club over just 5 appearances and even had the indignity of Saints attempting to return him to Nice, but the French club refusing in January 2014. After returning to France, Bahoken has had a decent career mainly in Ligue One, and has made 22 appearances for Cameroon scoring 4 times as of May 2022.
